WhatsApp according to WABetaInfo is working on a new feature on its App that will give room for users to manage their storage device.
In line with the reports, this new storage feature will provide users with:
- A storage bar to comprehend the amount of space usage by WhatsApp
- A section to review shared files so as to remove unnecessary media taking up the storage space
- Another section that houses the chat list, providing users with options to search a specific chat
In another development, WhatsApp has also updated its Forwarding Feature option.
This is in a bid to curb the spread of fake news among users as early this year, WhatsApp placed a limit restricting forwarded messages.
With this new feature, users who intend forwarding a message deemed by WhatsApp to be “highly forwarded”, will only get sent to only one of your contact at a time.
A media file that has been forwarded via a chain of at least five contacts gets considered to be a “highly forwarded” message.
Recall that in 2019, WhatsApp reduced the number of immediate forwarding contacts to five persons.
These messages are marked by double arrows, an indication that the message didn’t originate from the immediate sender.
The Facebook-owned message chat app has said that it is testing a simple way to cross-check the WhatsApp messages by clicking a magnifying glass button.
Giving you an easy way to search messages, news results or other necessary information about the message they get.
