A Nigerian startup SoftWork has launched a recruitment platform that serves as a connecting ground for employers and employees.
The platform launched in August 2019, has grown to have over 5,000 subscribers and effectively serves to connect freelance software developers, likewise other types of skilled expertise employees to employers.
Employees can easily find web and mobile app development, social media marketing, content writing, photography, and graphic design.
In just 8 months, the platform has grown and over 5,000 freelancers have signed up and secured over 200 jobs since its launch.
According to Chigozie Okwara Chief executive officer (CEO) SoftWork (who explained the major reasons the platform was created)
“After many years of being a freelancer, I always looked forward to getting more jobs, either through referrals or through freelancing websites.
But most freelancing websites were hosted in the United States, where most jobs shared on the platforms were international jobs, and the completion was also high.”
“It was then I realised that there were no freelance platforms for talents in Africa as a whole so, I decided to create a platform to aggregate top talent, in Nigeria then market them to clients.” disclosed Okwara
SoftWork is a talent aggregating platform, which is self-funded but according to Okwara, it is in the process of attempting to raise investment.
For now, revenues are generated from commissions on jobs obtained solely via the platform.
Okwara further disclosed that any funding raised would be used to further aid the growth of the start-up and deep penetration in Africa through strategic marketing.
