NCC’s Danbatta invited for Second Term Screening by the Senate tomorrow

Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, the current EVC/CEO, Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, who was recently re-appointed for a second term of 5 years by President Muhammadu Buhari, has been invited for screening by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Sources revealed that the screening will take place at Room 221, New Senate Building, by 1:00pm tomorrow, Wednesday, July 15, 2020.

It will be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari wrote to the Senate on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 to confirm the re-appointment of Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, for a second term of 5 years as the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC.

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa. Ali. Pantami, had early last month, June 2020, recommended the re-appointment of Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, to the President, as the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, for a second term tenure.

The Minister’s recommendations was in accordance with the provisions of the NCA Act, 2003, which establishes the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC and under which the regulatory body operates.

The Act allows for a second term tenure for an incumbent Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC.
