NCC: Danbatta, NCC Boss receives ‘Distinguished Friend Of The Media’ Award

Distinguished Friend of The Media Award plaque, presented to the EVC/CEO of Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, Prof. Garba Umar Danbatta, at the Press Freedom Awards 2018 event organised in Abuja, by the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, on May 5, 2018.

The EVC/CEO, Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, has received the 2018 ‘Distinguished Friend Of The Media’ Award. The Award was conferred on him at the ‘Press Freedom Awards 2018’ event organized by the Nigeria Union of Journalist, NUJ, on Saturday, May 5, 2018, in Abuja.

While presenting the award, the NUJ President, Abduwaheed Odusile stated that, NCC is one of the the corporate institutions that has assisted and supported the the media through human capacity development and patronage.

In his response to the Award, the EVC/CEO, of NCC, Prof Garba Umar Danbatta, who was represented by the Head of Public Relations Unit of NCC, Mr. Reuben Muoka, expressed delight at receiving the award, thanking the media for helping the NCC to publicize its activities and achievements to the people of the country, emphasizing that without the media, all its achievements would not have been possible. “The media remains our partner in all we are doing, even, as NCC is trying to project the eight-point agenda with broadband penetration, consumer protection, encouraging investment in the country among other things”, he stressed.

He also said the commission would maintain what it had been doing, which is, being open to the public, giving journalists the right information, adding that it would continue to educate and collaborate with the media.

This Award, one of many National and International Awards already received by NCC, is yet another testimony to the good works that the Commission is doing, by constantly networking with the media to disseminate relevant information to the consumers and other stakeholders in the Telecom industry.
