The day one of the Art of Technology Lagos 1.0 (#AoTLagos) event saw the gathering of more than 1000 tech enthusiasts, innovators and developers attend the conference at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos.
The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other members of his executive board had unveiled the Lagos State Innovation masterplan with a seed fund to promote research and development.
The day two of the tech conference organised by the Office of the Governor’s Special Adviser on Innovation and Technology in partnership with the Eko Innovation Centre saw the launch of the Idea hub.
Speaking on the launch of the Idea hub, Tosin Faniro-Dada, Start-up Head (Lagos Innovate) at the Lagos Employment Trust Fund (LSTEF), remarked, “One of the reasons we designed this platform is for people to access mentors”, according to her, young innovators have found it very difficult to access mentors who could serve as guide. “The platform allows people to input their ideas, get matched with mentors to get their ideas validated for execution.”
Tosin also stated that the Idea hub is more than a platform for mentorship, as there is room for collaboration between young innovators to exchange ideas and share thoughts. “A sustainable pipeline is created, therefore we have a more sustainable business”, she added
Also speaking at the launch, Olatunbosun Alake, Special Adviser to the Governor on Innovation and Technology, said “The idea hub is supposed to professionalise your idea, structure it properly, so that you get a minimum viable product and then launch into the market”
Speaking on how the Idea hub is connected to the unveiling made by the Lagos State Governor on day one of #AoTLagos, Olatunbosun remarked, “The solution hub is a platform where we take ready made idea and solution and apply them to challenges in Lagos state. The solution hub is at the tail end, so when idea becomes a product, then it fits into the solution hub”
“This is an end to end journey, and so we know that brain waves are not a product yet, but the idea hub helps you professionalise, makes your product viable until it becomes a beneficial solution.” He added
Tosin Faniro-Dada, who prior to Lagos innovate was head of strategy and partnership at LSTEF urged individuals with innovative ideas to sign up to the idea hub platform
