New Tools for Google My Business Service

When a friend first told me of what ‘Google My Business’ can do to one’s venture, I tried checking it out, but I found out that you need to add information, such as, towns, postal codes and official addresses.

For small business owners, this can be a bit discouraging, especially, for those whose venture lacks a physical space, as they work online from anywhere they are.

Getting to reach out to customers is often a challenge for small business owners that do not have a specific location often because they are always on the move.

Not to worry anyhow. The new update on Google for business indicates that you can pass accurate information to your customers without having a physical space for your business. In subsequent changes, you can add your geographical information.

This new tool from ‘Google My Business’ will assist small businesses to extend their services efficiently. Freelancers and artisans, who often lack specific work space, can make use of this service.

Tom Pritchard, SMB Product Lead for Google My Business, described the new tool feature in a blog post, when he said,

“let’s say you’ve started your own business. The office you’ve leased is a 22 by 14-foot sprinter van. Every day, you find a new challenge in a new location across the areas you serve. You might be a plumber or an electrician or a landscaper, but above all, you’re a business owner.”

“We’ve recently made a few updates to Google My Business, so, you can now share your service areas and information about your business via Google Maps and Search—so you can get found and tap into the many people searching for businesses like yours every day”, he further stated.

Current users of the tool can edit their business information on the dashboard. The ‘storefront address’ and the ‘service area’ can now be separately edited, such that small businesses without a physical address can register.

This new update to ‘Google My Business’ is clearly aimed at assisting businesses with customers to connect within their service area to enhance efficiency.

Small businesses that have an interest in this, can sign up for ‘Google My Business’ online and leverage the advantage of connecting with their customers.
