Chefaa, an Egyptian start-up that delivers medicine on-demand has recently raised a Series A funding round to assist its operations by expanding its team and also get to launch a B2B service.

The fund is an undisclosed seven-figure amount in the US dollar.

The startup was founded in May 2017 by Rasha Rady and Doaa Aref to assist patients in making scheduled orders on medicine to combat the challenges encountered when trying to access medicine in a good time.

Chefaa allows users to find medicine by using a real-time search engine, making orders, and delivery schedules with the use of GPS functionality.

The start-up also operates a platform dedicated to CSR that matches medicine donations to low-income patients.

In 2019, the start-up raised a seed round with investors such as Flat6Labs and 500 Startups.

In this latest round, 500 Startups was part of the process, wit other investors including Womena and Vision Ventures.

According to Chefaa, the investment will be used to expand its operational capacity and also launch a B2B platform that serves SMEs.

The start-up would also expand its operations to make sure that personal care products and basic medicines are readily available to Egyptians.

Doaa Aref, Co-founder, Chefaa said, “Chefaa is merging e-commerce with the pharmaceutical industry and positioning itself to lead the digital transformation of the pharmaceutical industry.

With the capital, we have just raised, and support of partners like 500 Startups, Vision Ventures, and Womena, we are focused on scaling efficiently and sustainably,”

Hasan Haider, the managing partner of 500 Startups MENA, asserted that any startup that is improving the lives of people within its environment is offering a service to everyone.

“We’re happy to be supporting Chefaa in providing people with a more efficient way to get their medication.

The team behind Chefaa has done an exemplary job in executing their goals in a very short period of time, and we look forward to their ongoing success,” Hasan stressed.
